Shrink wrapping your boat - How to Choose a Company
When it comes time to take your boat out of the water, the best thing to do is shrink wrap your boat to store it for the winter. It protects it from the elements throughout the winter such as rain, snow and wind.
There are a lot of new companies popping up these days that offer shrink wrap services and they are pretty economical but you get what you pay for. Make sure you choose a company that has a good amount of experience and know what they are doing. Making the wrong decision by choosing a company that doesn’t have a lot of experience or chosing them simply because they are cheaper could cost you in the long run. If it’s not done correctly, it might not last the winter. Make sure the company guarantees the work until your spring launch. Find out how long they have been in business. If they are new and don’t know how to frame your boat out, it won’t get wrapped correctly and the wrap won’t last the winter. Or the worst case scenario, they are unexperienced that they burn your boat with the torch! We have seen it happen.
We get a lot of calls in the middle of the winter to come and redo a wrap that was done by another company.
The picture on the left is one of those situations where we had to go and fix what someone else had done. The right is our work. Trust me, with 30 years in the business, we have seen it all.
Lastly, schedule way in advance. With the weather conditions getting worse and worse every year, it is hard to predict when you will be able to get wrapped because you cannot wrap a boat in extreme weather conditions such as severe wind so do yourself a favor and get scheduled. If you are in Monmouth or Ocean county and you are ready to wrap things up for the winter give us a call. The early bird gets the worm!
